Talk:Belarus
Hello!
I see that in the Top 20 of best visited pages of this wiki, the article about Belarus takes no less than the third place (and it close to ending second, even before Lla Dafern! Look here:
- Main Page (3837 views)
- Lla Dafern (788 views)
- Belarus (774 views)
- Nations of Ill Bethisad (564 views)
- Templates for user messages (366 views)
- Timeline (342 views)
- Republic of the Two Crowns (342 views)
- Xliponia (333 views)
- Ill Bethisad (320 views)
- Scandinavian Realm (301 views)
If you ask me, that can mean only one thing: that somewhere outside the project a link has been published to IB Belarus. Does anyone have info about that? --IJzeren Jan 05:44, 9 Jun 2005 (PDT)
- It's not on the first three pages of Google results for Belarus, for one thing. BTW, are special pages exempt from this statistic? Otherwise I'd expect Recent Changes to be the top scorer. The Jervan 08:39, 9 Jun 2005 (PDT)
- Yeah, special pages don't count. --IJzeren Jan
You see? Only nine days later, and now we have this:

- Republic of the Two Crowns (371 views)
- Xliponia (371 views)
- Timeline (360 views)
- Scandinavian Realm (349 views)
- Ill Bethisad (340 views)
I'm réally curious where this sudden interest for our Belarus comes from! If anyone who knows care to write it down, please do! --IJzeren Jan 11:53, 18 Jun 2005 (PDT)
Okay, it's getting more and more interesting. The current state of affairs:

I think I've found the reason for this strange interest for our Belarus! If you perform a simple Google for images on the word "Belarus", our map is shown first. Try for yourself. --IJzeren Jan 13:28, 24 Aug 2005 (PDT)
- Webserver stats say that about half the Google image search hits for the Belarus page are actually people looking for Bohemia (your Belarus map is in the first page of results for that as well).
- Most common search queries in the past month: magalat revolt (120 searches), saavedra expedition (19 searches), hiroxima (11), revolt of magalat (10)... actually a lot of the less common searches are about magalat as well, which would probably account for the rising popularity of your History of Filipinas page. —Muke Tever | ✎ 19:37, 25 Aug 2005 (PDT)
- Pity that so many our guests probably were looking for something completely different than they found! Anyway, where do you get that kind of info? --IJzeren Jan 22:52, 25 Aug 2005 (PDT)
- Our gracious hosting service ([1]) gets us automatically generated daily, monthly, and long-term stats, in the /stats directory. They are password protected, but they make it easy to create a new user for it... I'll look into seeing if there's any horrible unforeseen side-effects of making this publicly accessible, and if not i may set up a guest/guest account so anyone can see them. —Muke
Belarus is now number one. Considering the large number of inadvertant visitors, it's amazing we haven't had any vandalism or "corrections" on this page Nik 23:07, 26 May 2006 (PDT)

Belarus article results are at least impressive. Perhaps someone made of this article page the entry at IB which could explain such results at Top 20. So everytime he goes at IB it might count another "point" at the most popular pages. --Pedromoderno 18:52, 1 July 2006 (PDT)
Russian or Lithuanian Orthodox?
Are the majority of Belarus' Orthodox believers part of an autonomous Church under the jurisidction of Russia or Lithuania? Although the article says that 42% of the country is Russian Orthodox, the Lithuanian Orthodox Church mentions an Eparchy based in Minsk. I personally could see it go either way; on the one hand, the Lithuanian Church has historically not been so pleased to have people who use Belarusian or Church Slavonic within the communion which might be a turn off to the Belarusian people, but on the other hand, after decades of SNORist oppression, the people of Belarus might be a bit wary of being under the omophorion of Moscow and see Vilnius as a slightly-better alternative.
