Ubangi-Chari was a former French colony, covering the territory currently occupied by Centrafrican Empire, Azande Chiefdoms, Luba, Lunda and Mongo-Kongo. It achieved independence 15 August 1960, and by mid-1964 it had completely disintegrated into the civil war which resulted in the emergence of the various successor states.
