edit BBC NEWS SERVICE — 24.MAY.2006 — New Minority Language Channel Offered

LONDON — The BBC has announced its decision to launch a new channel, "BBC 3", to complement its existing channels. The channel will have much local variation for different groups of people in its space. It will use local dialects and minority languages, such as Dumnonian in Dumnonia and Cambrian in the minority of Strathclyde, Scots-Gaelic in the Scottish Highlands.
