I think perharps it would be better to put the pendant of the order around the shield instead of adding the cross directly to the shield.--Marc Pasquin 20:25, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

Actually, members of the Order of St. Lazarus placed the green maltese cross on the shield as part of their arms. Did some research into this as part of the plans for a novel about a noble family in 17th century France. Untypical, I know, but that is how this Order did things. Zahir 20:45, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
