Government

The governor of the Votian-Izhorian Autonomous Okrug is Агафонаа Ксjуша Чүллэин (Agafonaa Ksyusha Chülläin, Russian Ксюша Агафоновна Чюлляин Ksyusha Agafonovna Chyullyain), a famous Votian poetess; the vice-governor is Шэрги Эүшэвен Радвонов (Šärhi Äüšäven Radvonov, Russian Сергей Евсевевич Родионов, Sergei Yevsevievich Rodionov), an Izhorian, professor of mathematics at the University of Yamburka.

Language

Votian, Izhorian and Russian are the official languages of the VIAO. All three have equal status officially, but Votian and Russian are most commonly found spoken in government offices due to those two being the most commonly spoken; Izhorian is for all practical purposes restricted to those towns and villages where Izhorian is spoken.
