Which flag is to be used? The first flag in the gallery or the third one? A combination, perhaps? --General tiu 16:35, 23 June 2017 (PDT)
- I prefer not to use *here's* flags in IB unless they're really appropriate. Since the IB Zanzibar is more than *here's* Zanzibar I prefer a new flag that reflects the Ungujan ethos.
- 1) The flag is divided in half vertically (e.g., the Algerian flag) with the hoist green (for the land) and the fly blue (for the sea).
- 2) On each field there are four white eight-pointed stars arranged in a vertical line (per pale) which represent the four land and the four island provinces.
- 3) On a golden roundel in the center is the "basmala" in black, representing Islam. http://2wf.org/basmala-on-yellow-circle/ (minus the word "Murtadha" and the black border)
The aviation roundel, based on the flag, would be three concentric circles, blue, green, gold. Caeruleancentaur 07:26, 13 July 2017 (PDT)
Name
Why the name change to Unguja? I get that maybe you want a more African name, but the problem is Unguja is just the name of one island in the Zanzibar archipelago (admittedly the largest island, but still). Wouldn't naming the country Zanzibar make more sense to represent the entirety of the archipelago (plus the bit of the mainland), rather than just one island?
