I get the colour association but why is it called "rouge" instead of "red" ? Was the french word borrowed for left-wing in NAL usage due to political perception regarding Lousianna ? --Marc pasquin 14:36, 7 December 2017 (PST)
- Eh, I wanted to have a word that was vaguely close to "roaring", so to make the pun. I think the French word was indeed borrowed to represent the left-wing circa that time, and eventually fell out of usage, with the native word "red" replacing it as meaning "left-wing". The only remnant is in the name "Rouge Twenties". --Celeste Lavender 19:18, 7 December 2017 (PST)
