Anglo-Batavian Shell, formerly called Royal Dutch Shell is a company formed from the merger the Bataafsche Petroleum Maatschappij, a Batavian conglomerate, and Shell Transport Company, an English company founded by Marcus Samuel, a Ottoman Iraaqi Jewish emigrant to England. It is considered the largest petroleum company in the world, with Omnium Oil a close second.
