MOSKVA -- Empress Dagmar, or Czarina Maria Fjodorovna, as the Russians call the Danish born princess, will finally be returning home to Russia. The coffin with her earthly remains have since 1928 been located inside a sarcofage in Roskilde Cathedral. But the sarcofage, which is owned by the Danish Royal House, will not be following her on her last trip to St. Petersburg. A ship of the Royal Scandinavian Navy will in August 2004 escort the princess's coffin to Saint Petersburg, where she will be reunited with her husband, Czar Alexander III, in Peter-Paul Cathedral.   Read More...
