Mihai I (1869-1923) was the King of Muntenia. He succeeded his brother to the throne on the eve of the First Great War and was succeeded by his son. His wife was Anne, the daughter of Prince Karl Eitel Friedrich Zephyrinus Ludwig of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen (1839-1914), with whom he was very close.
Initially overlooked by the public at large, Prince Mihai came to be personally very popular in his own right and was greatly mourned when he passed away. Given that he'd had an army career prior to ascending the throne, he was sometimes called "The Soldier King."
