Æsetro (literally belief in the gods) is a revived pagan religion originating in Scandinavia. It resurrects the pre-Christian Germanic paganism of Scandinavia, Germany and England, based on folklore, survivng folk customs, archaeological evidence and Germanic mythological texts, such as the Eddas, Beowulf and the Niebelungenlied.

Due to the tireless efforts of the Icelandic goði (priest) Sveinbjörn Beinteinssen, Æsetro was finally recognised as an official religion by Scandinavian authorities in 1973. There are less than a million adherents worldwide, mainly in the Scandinavian Realm, the Holy Roman Empire and England.
