James Trout

James Trout (1891 - 1958) was a successful motion picture director in the NAL. Although he pretended to be from an aristocratic line, in fact he was born to poor family of fishermen in Ontario from whom he ran away in 1915 to join the circus. He joined the Continental Army in 1917 and saw action during the First Great War. Returning to the NAL, he found work in New Amsterdam as a set and costume designer, then assistant director and finally director of several notable films including Fled With The Wind and Show Steamer.

He died of a brain tumor in 1958.
