Greek Military

The armed forces of Greece has five branches. They are: The Hellenic National Defense General Staff The Hellenic Army The Hellenic Navy The Hellenic Air Force The civilian authority for the Greek military is the Ministry of National Defence.

Greece currently has universal compulsory military service for males, under which all men above 18 years of age serve for one year. As of now there is no conscription for the women of Greece. The last time the military was actively in use was in the failed conquest of Macedonia not in Greek hands during the 1980s.
