This is a great map! It would be great to find others like these related to other languages families.--Pedromoderno 08:40, 24 March 2014 (PDT)

Thanks very much. I've been playing with other versions for Germanic, Slavic, etc., but these are far less interesting than the Romance map because there are not nearly as many IB conlangs to show. Benkarnell 15:21, 28 March 2014 (PDT)
.. But here's one for all the language families. It's obviously based on Dan's File:EurolinguaSM.jpg. Benkarnell 20:42, 11 April 2014 (PDT)

Excellent!--Pedromoderno 06:37, 12 April 2014 (PDT)

Hey, Ben, that's a great map you have there! If I may, I just have one slight quibble. I don't believe that the ethnolinguistic border of Cyprus would be so rigid since there was no Turkish invasion of the island in the 1970's and presumably no reason for the British to pit one ethnic group against each other since they never had to leave the island. The Turkish population of Cyprus even now is only 20% of the island; I think before 1974 it was only 18% if that, and probably closer to 12% of the island. The northern half of the island coloured Turkish blue on your map would still be solidly Greek as it's tiny of an island to show individual regions and their ethnic makeup. I'm sorry to be critical; it's still an absolutely amazing map and I don't want to come off as criticising it. Thanks. Misterxeight 19:19, 15 April 2014 (PDT)

I was editing the map anyway when I saw this. I tried to show that there are more Greeks in Turkey, and more Turks in Greece, due to lack of the "population exchanges" (now there's a euphemism for you). Hopefully the new version reflects this for Cyprus as well. Benkarnell 05:41, 18 April 2014 (PDT)
I just love this map. It's really cool. The map is for Romance languages in Europe but it shows partially nearbies. I think you could add in Iraaq pockets of Turkmen, Farsi and Armenian, and Syriac in northern Iraaq.--Pedromoderno 07:35, 18 May 2015 (PDT)
Thank you. Is there an existing map that I could use as a source? I imagine that Iraaq's demographics are similar to those of Iraq *here* around 100 years ago? Benkarnell 10:44, 23 May 2015 (PDT)
